The annual Gerringong Golf Day was held on March 31st 2004 with 16 golfers in attendance. The event was played in the Ambrose format, with each group of three or four comprising one team. Each golfer hits off the tee, and the best ball is then selected, and played by the person who hit it. The other players in the group then hit from within one club length of the same position of the best ball. Again, the best ball is selected and played by the person who hit it. Again, the other players in the group also hit from the same position. This continues until the ball is holed.
Four teams of three and one team of four faced the starter. Luckily, the day was warm and sunny, and the wind stayed away for most of the day, allowing for some excellent shot making and scoring. The winning team was made up of Paul Brereton, Colin Hancock and Brett Davis. They shot an even par 72 for the demanding 5,586 metre layout.
After two successful years, the golf day has now become an annual event and will again be contested at around the same time next year.
