One Shoalhaven Bushwalker team competed in the 2-day event in Class 1, the actual Nav Shield event itself. Peter Dalton, Brett Davis, Karen Davis and Kynie Evison finished 9th out of 20 teams.

Had all classes been combined, they would have finished 12th out of 28 teams.

Their score at the end of the first day would have placed them 9th out of about 60 teams in the 1 day event.

Short Report by Brett Davis
The event was held at Nerriga, about six kilometres south of the town with the hash house just off Main Road 92. We navigated well all day Saturday, then made our way to Checkpoint Charlie where we spent the night. The early part of Saturday night was spent around the fire at the radio checkpoint, while the rest of the night was spent with the four of us lined up on the ground like Bob and Carol, Ted and Alice, under a groundsheet suspended between two trees and pegged out at each corner.

Due to a cold night (reported to be -5 degrees), we had a bit of a lie-in on the Sunday morning. There were layers of ice on both sides of the ground sheet when we got up. When packing up, Peter and I shook the groundsheet to get rid of the ice, and it was like we were in a snow storm. The subsequent late start saw our course planning go out the window, necessitating a long hike back to the hash house for the final two hours of the event. Afterwards, there was general agreement that the one day event might be our preferred option in the future.
