As Well As Bushwalking ... Things we do for Fun

"We do more than just walk through the bush ... photography, swimming, caving, bird-watching, canoeing, wildlife spotting, bike riding, eating and just lying on our backs looking at the sky are just some of the delights of bushwalking." So wrote a member a while ago. We all like to indulge in these varied pastimes and here is a typical story from Ivan Goozeff, walk leader, which appeared in 'The New Bush Telegraph' in March 1987 -

"Eight bushwalkers took full advantage of a glorious weekend when we went northwards from Pebbly Beach to camp by a small creek. Swimming, fishing, gourmet cooking, a starry night and a friendly campfire rounded off Saturday's hike. An early rise was followed by an unusual game of cricket with a rolled up sock for a ball and a palm frond for a bat. On the way back to Pebbly Beach one energetic couple climbed Mount Durras to enjoy the view from the top. All in all, this was a relaxing and pleasant weekend in the outdoors."
