This is one of the new series of maps with a composite aerial photograph on one side and topographic information on the other. The photograph will be useful for picking up clearings, rock shelves and other features difficult to incorporate on an ordinary map. However, when it comes to the topographic map - don't throw away your old copies. As a piece of cartography this is nowhere near as good as the 1984 edition. Colour contrasts are poor and, in many places, it is difficult to differentiate between tracks and contours. I would not like to depend on this map in fading light with bad weather about to strike!
Another change for the poorer is the lack of cadastral or property information. Although there is a warning that users should not trespass on to private land, property boundaries have now been omitted which makes it even more difficult to work out where public land ends and private starts.
